  1. Hello my name is Will and I have been dealing with homelessness and unemployment issues in my life for the past few years due to problems with drug addiction and alcohol abuse. I am however now almost 2 years clean and working very hard at self improvement and making amends for past transgressions. My fiance Kim and I have recently started renting a room on 44th and Townsend so we are new to the neighborhood. Being unemployed and no source of income has been a struggle for me to just pay for our bedroom and our telephones thru panhandling and small jobs I can find here and there. I’m reaching out to your church to see if there’s is anything I could do about getting some help with our food situation, it’s so hard for me to make sure her and I have enough to eat and nothing hurts me more than seeing the girl I love so dearly going to sleep hungry. I can paint, shovel snow, remodeling projects if you all have the tools and materials. I don’t know how any of this works but I would be happy to volunteer my time to your causes in any way I can . The reason I’m emailing is because I’m a very shy person and it’s harder for me to actually say things than it is to type them. If that makes any sense. So if there’s anything we can mutually do for each other or you have a food pantry available, please get back to me at your earliest convenience. And may Gods Blessings continue to find you.

    1. Stop by our Food Pantry every Tues. (except the 1st Tues. of every month) between 8:30 – 10am. There may be some volunteer opportunities available that could help support your growth. We look forward to seeing. GST Offices

  2. I hope this message finds you well,

My name is Susanna, and I work as a Crisis Counselor with the Social Development Commission. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, myself and my team of fellow Crisis Counselors are working diligently in an attempt to meet the emotional needs of the greater Milwaukee community for a program called, Project Recovery. At Project Recovery, we offer referrals for various free Social Development Commission programs, in addition to other community services as applicable such as food pantries and rent assistance. Currently we are working to distribute informational flyers with direct phone numbers to our crisis team so that folks have safe, and dignified access to community resources that they could potentially benefit from. We additionally pride ourselves in offering a compassionate and non-judgmental ear for those experiencing the stressors of the pandemic. We support our clients by accessing their situations while providing stress management techniques, de-escalation, and coping skills.

If you are interested I would love to provide you with copies of these for your members, of whom may be struggling emotionally or financially during this time.

    Thank you!
